๐Ÿ”ผ Fast First Race. Michigan State cross country competed in its first race on Friday, with both the women and men finishing third at the Jeff Drenth Memorial.

Kyle Eberhard won the menโ€™s race with a 5K time of 14:58.8, with Michael Hegarty right behind him in second place. Fatima Giron was the top finisher for the women in third place, with a 5K time of 18:13.6.

๐Ÿ”ผ All Square. No. 4 Michigan State womenโ€™s soccer played No. 15 Xavier to a draw on Sunday, matching the Musketeers with two goals in the second half after a scoreless first half.

Bella Najera and Maggie Illig provided the scoring for the Spartans, who are now 3-0-2 on the season.

๐Ÿ”ผ Kicked Off. Michigan State volleyball got its season started over the weekend in Colorado, winning one of three matchups against Northern Colorado, Colorado State (RV) and No. 11 Florida.

After dropping their opening match against Northern Colorado, the Spartans took down Colorado State in four sets before falling to Florida in the finale.

๐Ÿ”ผ One Up, One Down. Michigan State field hockey earned a split on its opening-weekend trip to California, taking down UC Davis 4-3 on Friday before falling to California in overtime on Sunday.

Bianca Pizano scored twice against UC Davis in the win, with Maddie Lawlor adding two goals on the weekend as well.

๐Ÿ”ผ Weekend Split. Michigan State menโ€™s soccer picked up a 1-0 win over Villanova on Friday at DeMartin Stadium, before falling in a close 2-1 match against No. 5 Oregon State on Monday afternoon.

Richie Ludwig scored the lone goal of the match against Villanova, while Mohamed Saad found the net against the Beavers.
