🔼 Welcome, Washington. Michigan State men’s soccer welcomed Washington to Big Ten play with a 1-0 win over the Huskies at DeMartin Stadium on Alumni Day over the weekend!

The score remained tied at 0-0 into the second half, until Jonathan Stout scored from long distance in the 62nd minute to give the Spartans the only goal necessary on the day.

🔼 Sweep, Sweep. Both the Michigan State men’s and women’s cross country teams ran to first-place finishes on Friday at the Spartan Invitational presented by Auto-Owners Insurance at the Forest Akers East Golf Course!

Sophia Lucki and Eleanor Kendell were the top finishers for the women, placing fourth and fifth, respectively. Alexander Penski paced the men in second place, followed closely by Lezawe Osterink in third.

🔼 Two More. Michigan State field hockey picked up a pair of dominant wins over the weekend against Bellarmine and Colgate, doubling its season win total in the process to move to 4-2 on the year and earn head coach Helen Knull the 100th win of her career!

The Spartans took down the Knights 4-2 on Friday, and the Raiders 5-0 on Sunday. Bianca Pizano and Emma O’Neill both scored two goals across the two games, with Maddie Lawlor, Ellie Rutherford, Carmen Pucheta, Jillian Bonczewski and Lilian Knorr all scoring once.

🔼 First Serve. Michigan State men’s tennis got its fall season started over the weekend at three different events across the globe.

Much of the team was in San Francisco for the Battle in the Bay, including Ozan Baris, who won a pair of singles matches. Mitchell Sheldon represented the Spartans at the Louisville Invite, winning two matches, and Aristotelis Thanos represented Greece in the Davis Cup Tie in Belgrade, Serbia.

🔼 Headed Home. Michigan State men’s golf and Ontario native Ashton McCulloch are headed north of the border this week, playing in the Canadian Collegiate Invitational at Oviibyrd Golf Club in Foots Bay, Ontario, Canada today and tomorrow.
