🔼 Glad You Could Join. Michigan State men’s soccer welcomed UCLA into the Big Ten over the weekend by beating the No. 15 Bruins, 1-0, in Los Angeles! The Spartans did their work early, scoring in the second minute of the match thanks to a diving header from Jonathan Stout. Goalkeeper Zac Kelly collected four saves against UCLA, and earned his third clean sheet of the season.

🔼 Extra Time, Extra Fun. Michigan State field hockey got back above .500 on Sunday, picking up a 2-1 overtime win at Ball State.

The Spartans trailed 1-0 heading into the fourth quarter, when a Caro Schafer goal forced overtime. Lilian Knorr took it from there, scoring in the second overtime to give Michigan State its fifth win of the season.

🔼 All Square. No. 1 Michigan State women’s soccer played to its second draw in a row on Sunday, this time 1-1 against Rutgers.

The Spartans maintained possession for most of the contest, and broke through with a goal from Mackenzie Anthony in the 80th minute. Michigan State’s unbeaten streak now stands at 12 matches to begin the season.

🔼 All Done. Michigan State men’s tennis began its fall season this past week at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, with Taym Alazmeh, Max Sheldon and David Saye representing the Green & White.

Sheldon won his first six matches of the week on his way to making the Main Draw, the only Big Ten player to do so at the tournament. Alazmeh also won a pair of singles matches before being defeated.

🔼 Holy Toledo. The fall full-team schedule is officially underway for Michigan State women’s tennis, with the Spartans competing at the Toledo Rocket Invitational this past weekend.

Issey Purser, Hanna Tsitavets, Oriana Parkins-Godwin, Natalie Stansy and Amara Brahmbhatt all played and all picked up wins at the tournament!

🔼 More Work To Do. Michigan State football fell to No. 3 Ohio State on Saturday night at Spartan Stadium by a score of 38-7. Aidan Chiles completed 13-of-19 passes for 167 yards and a touchdown to lead the Spartan offense, while Jaron Glover caught four of those passes for 53 yards. Here’s your postgame coverage:

🔼 B1G Opened. Michigan State volleyball kicked off Big Ten play over the weekend, dropping a pair of matches to Michigan and No. 4 Penn State.

The Spartans battled hard against the Nittany Lions, taking the first set on the road in University Park. Taylor Preston tallied 18 kills along with seven digs and two blocks in the contest.
