🔼 Top-10 Win. On a night in which No. 5 Michigan State women’s soccer picked up a 1-0 win over No. 9 Penn State, it also secured its best start in program history — the Spartans are now 8-0-2 on the season!

Justina Gaynor scored just three minutes into the contest against the Nittany Lions, and the Spartans defended their lead from there thanks to a career-high 11 saves from Kaitlyn Parks.

🔼 Preseason Praise. A trio of Michigan State hockey standouts have been honored with Preseason All-Big Ten accolades ahead of the Spartans’ Oct. 4 season opener at Lake Superior State!

Trey Augustine, Karsen Dorwart and Isaac Howard were named First-Team All-Big Ten members, and the Spartans as a team were chosen first in the preseason poll.

🔼 B1G Next. Michigan State volleyball finished up its non-conference schedule down south over the weekend, splitting a pair of matches against Duke and North Carolina.

The Spartans took care of the Blue Devils in five sets on Friday, led by Zuzanna Kulig’s 11 blocks. The Tar Heels got the best of Michigan State on Sunday, winning in four sets.

Michigan State will head into Big Ten play at 7-4 overall, with a matchup against Michigan in Ann Arbor on Friday next up on the calendar.

🔼 Rainy Day. Michigan State football dropped a back-and-forth contest at Boston College on Saturday in front of a sold-out Alumni Stadium, giving up a late touchdown in a 23-19 loss to move to 3-1 on the season.

Jonathan Kim was stellar for the Spartans, connecting on four field goals, including a 27-yarder with less than five minutes remaining to give Michigan State a lead.

🔼 Through Two. Michigan State women’s golf is through one day at the Mary Fossum Invitational at Forest Akers West, shooting a two-round total of 6-over par to sit in fourth place heading into Monday’s final round.

Brooke Biermann led the Spartans on Day 1, as she sits in third place at 3-under par and five shots off the lead.

🔼 Now Serving. Michigan State women’s tennis had three student-athletes competing at the ITA Women’s All-American Championship pre-qualifier in Cary, N.C. over the weekend, with play highlighted by Ellie Blackford picking up her first win as a Spartan.

Matilde Morias and Liisa Vehviläinen also competed for Michigan State at the tournament, dropping their first round matchups.

🔼 On The Road. Michigan State men’s soccer dropped a close match against Penn State in its Big Ten road opener over the weekend, letting a 1-0 halftime lead slip in a 2-1 loss to the Nittany Lions.

Jonathan Stout scored the lone goal of the contest for the Spartans, a 39th minute score that gave the team a 1-0 lead.

🔼 Buckeye Battle. Michigan State field hockey opened up Big Ten play over the weekend with a matchup against No. 6 Ohio State, losing 4-0 to the Buckeyes, who are still unbeaten on the season.

The Spartans are back in action today, hosting Michigan at 3 p.m. at Ralph Young Field.

Spartan Men’s Golf head coach Casey Lubahn started the Folds of Honor Collegiate in 2021, and it has quickly become one of the biggest events in college golf. It also serves a dual purpose—helping families of fallen or disabled military and first responders.
