Kayla Briggs broke a scoreless tie in the 83rd minute with her second goal of the season to give the Spartans the late lead.

Trae Waynes, who wore No. 15 for the Spartans from 2012-14, totaled 71 tackles, six interceptions and 13 passes defended during his Michigan State career. Waynes was selected with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings.
