Spartan Brew 7/11: Studying Abroad

Inés Sotelo will represent Spain in Czechia this summer!

Good morning, Spartans! Football is back in the lab!

What else do we have brewing today?

🏀 Hoopin’ abroad
🏒 Academic honor
💚 And much, much more

🔼 Hoopin’ Abroad. Michigan State women’s basketball’s Inés Sotelo will play for Spain in the 2025 FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup in Brno, Czechia, which begins this weekend!

🔼 Nice Off The Ice. Michigan State hockey’s Trey Augustine and Matt Basgall have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Teams!

Augustine is a first team selection, marking the program's first first-teamer since Jeff Lerg in 2009. Basgall was named to the third team. It's the first time Michigan State hockey has received multiple CSC (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-America honors in the same season.

🔼 Games With The Gophers. We have 49 days until Michigan State football is back on the field for its season opener on Friday, August 29 against Western Michigan!

Michigan State football has played Big Ten opponent Minnesota 49 times on the gridiron, with a 30-19 record against the Gophers!

💚 ONE BIG THING

🔼 Never Playing Alone. “She grew strength from me, and I learned a lot from her.”

Brooke Biermann doesn’t just play for herself or for her team. When she’s out on the course, she’s playing for her biggest cheerleader: her sister Ashleigh.
