🔼 Run, Jump & Throw. Michigan State decathlete Ryan Talbot is set to begin competition today at his third consecutive NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships!

Talbot won the Big Ten Championships with a score of 7535, with top-five finishes in nine of ten events. He brings a PR of 8064 to the NCAA Championships, one of only 11 athletes in the field to post a score of 8000 or higher.

🔼 Two-Way Titan. There are 86 days now until Michigan State football once again takes the field, and 86 makes us think of one legendary Spartan immediately — All-American Allen Brenner!

Brenner was one of college football’s most talented two-way players in the 1960s, playing wide receiver and safety for the Spartans.

He was one of two sophomore starters on Michigan State’s 1966 national championship team, and would go on to earn First Team All-America honors in 1968.

Michigan State Athletics told the story of Brenner’s career beautifully when he passed away in 2012 at the age of 64 — you can read that article here.

🔼 New To Town. Michigan State men’s basketball coach Tom Izzo announced a pair of additions to the program this week — Frankie Fidler and Szymon Zapala are officially Spartans!

Fidler joins Michigan State after three years at Nebraska-Omaha, while Zapala has played one season at Longwood and two at Utah State.
