🔼 All-Time All-American. Michigan State heptathlete Heath Baldwin put together the performance of a lifetime at the NCAA Indoor Championships over the weekend, finishing as the runner-up with the sixth-best collegiate score of all-time, and the best-ever score from a Big Ten athlete!

🔼 Tickets Punched. 184-pounder Layne Malczewski and 157-pounder Chase Saldate led Michigan State wrestling at the Big Ten Championships over the weekend, both finishing on the podium in seventh place.

Those two, along with Tristan Lujan (125 pounds) and Jordan Hamdan (141), all secured spots in the NCAA Championships.

🔼 Spartans Score Season-High. No. 8 Michigan State gymnastics saved its best home performance for last over the weekend, scoring a season-high 198.150 to win its quad meet against Central Michigan, Fisk and Greenville.

The 198.150 team score was the second-best score in school history.

🔼 Season Of The Sweep. Michigan State women’s tennis spent the weekend at home, cruising past Ball State and Oakland in a pair of 4-0 sweeps.

The Spartans now sit at 8-5 overall this spring, with Big Ten play up next with a trip to Penn State on the schedule this Friday.

🔼 First One. No. 16 Michigan State men’s tennis suffered its first home loss of the season on Sunday, falling 4-3 to No. 46 Cornell.

Aristotelis Thanos, Sebastien Collard and Max Sheldon all earned singles victories for the Spartans.

🔼 Got The First One. Michigan State baseball picked up a 5-3 win over Western Michigan in Game 1 of its second weekend at the First Pitch Invitational in Greenville, S.C. before falling to Western Carolina and VCU in subsequent games.

Jack Frank was 3-for-3 in the Game 1 victory, and Christian Williams was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI.

🔼 Onto The Postseason. Michigan State men’s basketball dropped a heartbreaker at Indiana on Sunday to close out the regular season, 65-64.

The Spartans trailed by as many as 17 points in the first half before eventually taking a lead in the second half, but a last-second shot was off the mark and gave the Hoosiers the win.

🔼 Comeback Comes Up Short. No. 4 seed Michigan State women’s basketball fell in its quarterfinal matchup against No. 5 Nebraska on Friday, 73-61.

The Spartans outscored the Huskers 19-11 in the fourth quarter to close the gap, but couldn’t climb all the way back. First-Team All-Big Ten guard Julia Ayrault scored a game-high 25 points for Michigan State.
