Spartan Brew 3/31: Elite Hoops Season
Men's hoops' season came to an end of Sunday in the Elite Eight.

🔼 Elite Season. No. 2 seed Michigan State men’s basketball’s season came to an end in the Elite Eight on Sunday, falling to top-seeded Auburn, 70-64.
Three Spartans scored in double-figures, led by junior forward Jaxon Kohler, who had 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range. Kohler also grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds for his eighth double-double of the season. Senior guard Jaden Akins had 15 points with three 3-pointers in his final game as a Spartan, while freshman guard Jase Richardson scored 11 points.
Michigan State finishes the season with a 30-7 overall record, marking the sixth 30th-win season of Hall of Fame Coach Tom Izzo's career. It also was Izzo's 11th appearance in the Elite Eight.

Spartan Baseball to host canned food drive at the 2025 Crosstown Showdown: Join us at the Crosstown Showdown on April 1. First Pitch is 6:05 p.m. In collaboration with the Lansing Lugnuts and Southside Community Kitchen, donations that will be accepted include: Cash, Non-Expired Canned Fruit, Pudding, and Single Ingredient Canned Items.

🔼 Saturday Winner. Michigan State baseball picked up a win in its series finale against Illinois on Saturday, 14-4 in eight innings.
Sam Busch provided much of the offense for the Spartans against the Illini, hitting a two-run home run into the Red Cedar River as part of a 4-for-5 day with a career-high five driven in.

🔼 In Enemy Territory. Michigan State softball picked up its first win against rival Michigan since 2018 on Friday, beating the Wolverines 4-3 in Ann Arbor.
Both Britain Beshears and Kaelin Cash homered for the Spartans, and Madison Taylor earned the win in the circle.

🔼 Split The Weekend. No. 32 Michigan State men’s tennis split a pair of Big Ten matches this weekend, taking down Penn State, 4-3, on Saturday before falling to No. 3 Ohio State on Sunday.
Vuk Radjenovic, Mitchell Sheldon and Danial Rakhmatullayev each won singles matches against the Nittany Lions.

🔼 Senior Celebration. Michigan State women’s tennis celebrated Liisa Vehvilainen for Senior Day on Friday by beating No. 44 Northwestern, 4-2.
After winning the doubles point, the Spartans got singles victories from Vehvilainen, Amara Brahmbhatt and Matilde Morais to beat the Wildcats.

🔼 Off And Rowing. Michigan State rowing got its season started over the weekend in Sarasota, Fla. — The Spartans had three of its six boats in A finals, just missed a podium finish in the varsity eight and won the petite final in the third varsity eight/novice eight.

🔼 Tiger Tee. Michigan State women’s golf completed play at the Clemson Invitational on Sunday, finishing 11th as a team at 1-under.
Paula Balanzategui led the way for the Spartans, shooting 3-under to finish in a tie for 29th place.
