📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Earned It. A high-flying first half between Michigan State men’s basketball and Maryland turned into a defensive struggle in the second half, and the Spartans pulled out a 61-59 road win to improve to 4-4 in Big Ten play.

Tyson Walker hit the biggest shot of the game, a 3-pointer with 44 seconds left to put the Spartans up four. He finished with 15 points to lead Michigan State, who also got 12 points apiece from Malik Hall and A.J. Hoggard.

🔼 Awesome Opener. No. 22 Michigan State men’s tennis’ season-opening doubleheader went about as well as it could have, dropping just one total point in wins over Western Michigan and Brown!

🔼 Split It. In a home-and-home weekend for Michigan State and Michigan hockey, it was the road team winning both games for a series split.

The Spartans dropped their home game on Friday, 7-1, before bouncing back in Ann Arbor on Saturday, winning 7-5. After falling behind 4-1 in the game, Michigan State rattled off six straight goals to take a 7-4 lead and close out the win.

The win at Michigan was the largest deficit the Spartans have ever overcome at Yost Ice Arena, and just the ninth time they have scored at least seven goals in the building.

🔼 Fast Times. You get a PR, and YOU get a PR, and YOU get a PR!

Fourteen Michigan State track & field athletes grabbed personal records over the weekend at the Simmons-Harvey Invitational, as the men placed third overall and the women placed fourth.

🔼 Best Yet. In its first Big Ten dual of the season, Michigan State gymnastics put up its highest score to date in a 197.475-195.950 win over Penn State on Friday night.

Skyla Schulte was the star of the night, winning titles in the all-around (39.600), bars (9.900), beam (9.950) and floor (9.900).

🔼 Off Night. A 32.8 shooting percentage was too much to overcome for Michigan State women’s basketball against Minnesota on Saturday, scoring a season-low in a 69-50 loss to the Gophers.

DeeDee Hagemann scored 18 points and added seven rebounds, the only Spartan in double figures.

🔼 Desert Heat. Michigan State women’s tennis struggled on its trip to Tucson, Ariz. over the weekend, falling 4-0 to both Arizona and BYU.

🔼 Top-15 Bouts. Michigan State wrestling faced a pair of top-15 teams this weekend in No. 14 Rutgers and No. 1 Penn State, falling to both.

The Spartans were a couple matches away from flipping the result against the Scarlet Knights in a 22-13 defeat, before falling 35-0 to the Nittany Lions on Sunday.
