🔼 Broomed The Bucks. No. 4 Michigan State hockey opened up Big Ten play over the weekend by sweeping Ohio State at Munn Ice Arena.

The Spartans dominated the Buckeyes, winning 4-2 on Friday night and 4-1 on Saturday. Daniel Russell scored two goals in the two games, with the other six goals coming from six different Michigan State skaters.

The Saturday win over Ohio State was Adam Nightingale’s 50th as the head coach of the Spartans.  He is the fastest to 50 head coaching victories in program history (85 games); Rick Comley won his 50th game in his 88th contest early in 2004-05.

🔼 Century Mark. Michigan State women’s basketball reached 100 points for the second consecutive game on Friday, winning 100-44 against Yale at the Breslin Center to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Grace VanSlooten led the Spartans with 19 points, followed by Theryn Hallock (13), Kennedy Blair (12) and Julia Ayrault (10) in double figures.

Michigan State is back on the court today, hosting in-state foe Eastern Michigan at 6:30 p.m.

🔼 B1G Win. Michigan State volleyball picked up its second Big Ten win of the season over the weekend, taking down Rutgers in four sets in Piscataway, N.J.

Taylor Preston posted her second double-double of the season in the win, totaling 17 kills and 12 digs. Akasha Anderson also collected 17 kills against the Scarlet Knights.

🔼 Open Win. Michigan State wrestling hosted the Michigan State Open over the weekend, with competition highlighted by a win from redshirt freshman Caleb Weiland at 125 pounds in the freshman/sophomore bracket.

The Spartans had three total finalists and nine placewinners on the day.
