🔼 Style Points. The offense was humming for Michigan State men’s hockey on Thursday night against Canisius, winning 6-3 over the Golden Griffins.

The Spartans scored twice in the first period and twice more in the second before Canisius got on the board.

Daniel Russell was the star of the show, earning himself a hat trick. Joey Larson, Maxim Štrbák and Artyom Levshunov also scored.

🔼 Still A Chance. Michigan State women’s soccer kept pace at the top of the Big Ten standings with a 2-1 win over Illinois Thursday night.

With one Big Ten match remaining, the Spartans sit one point behind Penn State for first place in the conference. Michigan State has Iowa (3-3-3) remaining, while Penn State has Wisconsin (6-2-1).

🔼 Wild(cat) Weekend. Michigan State men’s soccer is at Northwestern tonight, in a match that will go a long way in determining the Big Ten regular season champions!

With two Big Ten matches remaining, Michigan State and Northwestern are two of four teams tied atop the conference standings with 10 points, along with Penn State and Rutgers.

🔼 Gone To Gophertown. Michigan State heads west this weekend for a matchup with Minnesota.

As of Friday morning, the Spartans (5-4 B1G) are a half-game ahead of the Gophers (4-4 B1G) in the Big Ten standings, with a match against Rutgers this evening before the Spartans come to town.

🔼 Onto Oxford. Michigan State field hockey leaves conference action for a moment this weekend, with a trip to Miami (Ohio) on the schedule.

The Redhawks are 9-7 this season and 4-1 in MAC play, but 0-2 against Big Ten opponents this season — Indiana (2-0 loss) and Maryland (3-1 loss).
