🔼 Only Takes One. More than 5,000 fans came out to DeMartin Stadium on Saturday night to watch No. 5 Michigan State women’s soccer win 1-0 over rival Michigan!

The Spartans, who received a penalty-kick goal from Justina Gaynor in the 76th minute to secure the victory, moved to 9-0-4 on the season and 4-0-2 in Big Ten play. The 13-game unbeaten streak the Spartans are currently on is tied for the longest in the country with Utah.

🔼 Off And Winning. No. 4 Michigan State hockey traveled to Sault Ste. Marie over the weekend to kick off the 2024-25 season against Lake Superior State and came home with a pair of victories!

The Spartans won in different ways, earning a 2-1 overtime victory in Game 1 thanks to a Daniel Russell game-winner and pulling away in a 5-1 win in Game 2.

🔼 Western Expansion. Michigan State football played its second consecutive top-10 opponent on Friday night, traveling to the west coast to play No. 6 Oregon. The Spartans fell 31-10 to the Ducks. Here’s the postgame coverage from Eugene:

🔼 Just Short. In a matchup of the two top teams in the Big Ten standings, Michigan State men’s soccer fell in a tightly-contest match against No. 12 Maryland over the weekend.

The Spartans broke through first, with Will Eby heading a ball into the net in the 59th minute to give his team the momentary lead. The Terrapins answered with two late goals to steal the victory, however.

🔼 Road Trip. Michigan State volleyball played its fifth and sixth consecutive road matches this weekend, traveling to Indiana to play the Hoosiers and No. 10 Purdue.

The Spartans fell in four sets to the Hoosiers and in three against the Boilermakers.

A home stand comes next for Michigan State, with its next four matches set to be played at the Breslin Center.

🔼 Fast Group. Michigan State cross country ran well at the ultra-competitive Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational on Saturday, with both the men and women posting top-10 finishes.

Rachel Forsyth was the top finisher for the Spartan women, running the 6K race in 16:45.7. The men were led by Andrew Nolan in the 8K race, finishing 19th with a time of 23:06.8.

🔼 Sunday Shootout. Michigan State field hockey played its third consecutive double-overtime non-conference game on Sunday, falling 4-3 to Kent State at Ralph Young Field in a penalty shootout.

The Spartans trailed in the final moments of the fourth period, but a goal from Maddie Lawlor forced the extra period.
