πΌ Half A Dozen. No. 18/15 Michigan State menβs basketball won its sixth consecutive game while we were away, 80-62 over Western Michigan at the Breslin Center on Dec. 30 in its final non-conference game of the season.
Jaden Akins led the way with 18 points, followed by Carson Cooper with 13 points and six rebounds.
The Spartans head out onto the road tomorrow, traveling to Columbus, Ohio for an 8 p.m. game at Ohio State.
πΌ Full Steam Ahead. No. 1 Michigan State hockey continued its winning ways last weekend, earning wins over Northern Michigan and No. 4 Western Michigan in Grand Rapids to claim the Great Lakes Invitational title.
The Spartans are back out on the ice today, hosting Wisconsin at 6:30 p.m. for Youth Hockey & Jr. Spartans Night before traveling alongside the Badgers to Chicago to face off again at Wrigley Field on Saturday at 9 p.m. ET. Both games against Wisconsin will be on the Big Ten Network.

πΌ Winning Ways. No. 21 Michigan State womenβs basketball got back into the win column on Wednesday, beating Purdue, 77-59, to earn its second Big Ten win of the season.
InΓ©s Sotelo made her first career start and scored a career-high 16 points for the Spartans. Jocelyn Tate led Michigan State with a career-high 19 points and 11 rebounds, Julia Ayrault also collected a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds and Grace VanSlooten contributed 13 points off the bench.

πΌ Midlands Madness. Michigan State wrestling competed at the 60th Ken Kraft Midlands Championships over the break, finishing with 32.5 points to finish 13th out of 25 teams.
Marty Larkin (174 pounds) and Max Vanadia (heavyweight) each finished seventh to lead the Spartans.
