Spartan Brew 1/19: Two Wins Over No. 2!
Hockey swept No. 2 Wisconsin on the road over the weekend!

Today, we pause to honor a man who moved our country and our society forward in so many ways. As we celebrate victories, moments, and stories in each and every Brew, let us remember those who helped pave the paths before us.

🔼 Win Out West! No. 12 Michigan State men’s basketball got its West Coast trip started with a win on Saturday, beating Washington in Seattle, 80-63!
Jeremy Fears Jr. led the Spartans with 19 points, with 14 of them coming in the second half. Kur Teng (10 points) and Carson Cooper (10 points) joined Fears in double figures.

🔼 Bullied The Badgers! No. 3 Michigan State hockey got the best of No. 2 Wisconsin in a battle of top-five teams over the weekend, going on the road and sweeping the Badgers in Madison!
The pair of wins pushes the Spartans to 17-5 overall and 8-4 in Big Ten action, good for third place currently in the conference standings.

🔼 Sunday Shootout. No. 15 Michigan State women’s basketball suffered just its second loss of the season on Sunday, falling 75-68 at No. 11 Iowa.
Grace VanSlooten led the Spartans with 17 points against the Hawkeyes, followed by Jalyn Brown (16 points) and Juliann Woodard (14 points).

🔼 Down South. Michigan State women’s tennis sent three Spartans to the TCU JAE Foundation Battle for the Boot in Fort Worth, Texas over the weekend, with Sarah Fazlagic, Oriana Parkins-Godwin and Issey Purser putting together a strong showing to begin spring action.

🔼 Season Started. No. 20 Michigan State men’s tennis opened its spring season on the road on Sunday, falling 5-2 at Kentucky.
The Spartans' lineup included seniors Ozan Baris and David Saye, juniors Taym Alazmeh and Danial Rakhmatullayev, and sophomores Matthew Forbes and Mitchell Sheldon in their spring season opener.

🔼 Finish Line! Michigan State track and field put together another successful weekend of competition at the Simmons-Harvey Invitational in Ann Arbor, winning nine event titles!

🔼 Illini Fight. Michigan State wrestling dropped a Big Ten dual to No. 11 Illinois on Friday night, 31-12.
Darius Marines (157 pounds), Kael Wisler (197 pounds) and Josh Terrill (heavyweight) earned wins for the Spartans against the Illini.

🔼 B1G Matchup. No. 17 Michigan State gymnastics competed in its Big Ten opener at Iowa on Saturday night, falling to the Hawkeyes, 196.400-195.675.
