📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Put A Ring On It. No. 14 Michigan State women's soccer dominated Iowa to the tune of 3-0 yesterday afternoon at DeMartin Stadium en route to the program's second-straight Big Ten title.

With the win, MSU shares the conference title with Nebraska, who defeated Illinois yesterday to match the Spartans' 23 points. By virtue of a tiebreaker, MSU earns the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament in back-to-back seasons and will face eighth-seeded Iowa on Sunday, Oct. 29 at DeMartin in the tournament quarterfinals. Start time and television information will be announced at a later date.

🔼 Road Warriors. Behind a pair of first-half goals, No. 20 Michigan State men's soccer captured a hard-fought 2-1 win over No. 21 Northwestern this weekend at Martin Stadium in Evanston.

The Spartans improved to 7-0-6 overall and 3-0-4 in Big Ten action. With the win, MSU now sits atop the Big Ten standings with 13 points—and they also snapped a two-game losing streak against Northwestern. Michigan State is 2-0-1 against ranked teams this season.

🔼 How Sweep It Is. Nash Nienhuis and Artyom Levshunov—Michigan State's top defensive pair—each had a goal and an assist while senior alternate captain Nicolas Müller had a three-point effort as No. 8/9 MSU recorded its fourth straight home win in a 4-3 decision over visiting Canisius at Munn Ice Arena.

It was the second victory in as many days for the Spartans, who won 6-3 over Canisius the day before.

The teams combined for 58 penalty minutes, and the Spartans got shorthanded markers from Nash Nienhuis and graduate student Reed Lebster to improve to 5-1 on the season.

🔼 Bounce Back. Michigan State football fell 49-0 to No. 2/2 Michigan on Saturday night before a crowd of 74,206 at Spartan Stadium.

The Spartans were held to 182 yards of total offense in the game, and Aaron Brule and Malik Spencer led the Spartan defense with 11 tackles apiece.

“You have to watch it, you have to face what really happened, and then get better from it," said MSU interim head coach Harlon Barnett. "It's still the 24-hour rule, but you want to learn from it just like we watched last week's film. You have to get better from it and look to finish out the season the right way.”

📅 Michigan State returns to action next Saturday, Oct. 28 at Minnesota. The game will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET and will be televised on the Big Ten Network.

🔼 Closing Out. Michigan State men’s tennis concluded play at the ITA Midwest Regionals this past weekend, highlighted by senior Graydon Lair and his comeback win in the round of 32 main draw singles who came back from down 5-0 in third set to defeat Notre Dame's Nil Giraldez, 7-6, 6-1, 7-5.

Prior to the comeback victory, the Tulsa, Oklahoma native also took down the No. 3 seed in the tournament, Hunter Heck of Illinois, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the round of 64 on Saturday morning. He’d eventually fall in the round of 16 to Ohio State's Bryce Nakashima who as of Sunday is still alive in the singles semis.

🔼 Fought To The Finish. Michigan State volleyball fought tooth and nail in a four-set loss (15-25, 25-23, 16-25, 20-25) at Minnesota, moving to 13-8 overall and 5-5 in the Big Ten on the year.

Freshman outside hitter Karolina Staniszewska led MSU with 11 kills and set a new career-high with three blocks, recording her second double-double of the season adding 10 digs. Freshman outside hitter Taylah Holdem joined in with a double-double of her own posting 10 kills and 11 digs, her sixth of the season.
