🔼 HOF. Michigan State Athletics announced the six athletes named to the 2026 Hall of Fame Class. Lindsay Bowen (women’s basketball), Dan Currie (football), Tico Duckett (football/men’s track & field), Walt Drenth (men’s and women’s cross country and track & field), Sue Latter-Addison (women’s cross country and track & field), Kalin Lucas (men’s basketball) and Leah O’Connor (women’s cross country and track & field) will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in September. The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Celebration will take place on Friday, Sept. 11. Tickets for the ceremony can be purchased through MSUSpartans.com. There will also be a special recognition of the 2026 MSU Athletics Hall of Fame Class during the Michigan State-Eastern Michigan football game at Spartan Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 12.
🔼 Spartan Stud. We have 49 days until Michigan State football is back on the field for its season opener on Friday, September 4 against Toledo!
No. 49 makes us think of one Spartan — all-time leading tackler Dan Bass! The linebacker from Bath totaled 541 tackles in his four-year career and earned second-team All-America and first-team All-Big Ten accolades after the 1979 season.
💚 ONE BIG THING
🔼 Scholar Athletes. The men’s basketball team was recognized with a Team Academic Excellence Award. Four members of the team were selected to the Honor Court by the National Association of Basketball Coaches: Carson Cooper, Trey Fort, Nick Sanders and Denham Wojcik. The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize programs that completed the 2025-26 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2025-26 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
